At the federal level, we are working to enable Veterans Affairs Medical Centers to be 100% tobacco free campus wide by repealing a federal law requiring them to have smoking facilities on their campuses.

The VA medical centers would join all other North Carolina hospitals in becoming tobacco free, and North Carolina would become the first state to have all of its hospitals 100% tobacco free campus wide.

At the state and local level, we support legislative priorities of the NC Alliance for Health (NCAH), a coalition of individuals and organizations advocating for tobacco and obesity prevention policies. As a founding member of NCAH, we recognize that evidence –based public policies are essential to prevention and health.
